In this piece the whole painting is made of one shape and that is a circle. The whole piece is made up of dots which only create lines. The color consists of mostly reds and oranges. The direction of the lines being created are all vertical but they do create a curvy line. The representation is abstract because the meaning behind this piece are dreams interpreted only my points and lines created by the points. The positive space are the colorful dot being created while the negative space are the white dots. When get up close to the piece most of the dots are overlapping one another

Flashe and neon on linen

The conceptual elements which are not visible there is a line being made which are bound by the starting point and ending point ,the line is being made by the neon sign which is a bright orange in front of an abstract painting that is a majority of blue. There are also lines being made of the wires hanging from the light which travels to the floor of the museum. There is a plane being made the first one is the canvas itself, the second plane is made out of the neon light the cables and the edge of the floor creating this effect.  The colors consists of blue paint streaks which also creates textures in the painting. The contrasting colors orange and blue are created with the light and the painting in the background. The position of the neon light is in the middle of the canvas. There is a sense of gravity being shown when the cables are hanging off of the neon light and touching the floor. If show that it is not being attached to anything gravity is pulling it down to the floor. There is a line being physically represented behind another series of lines that are not accidental but purposely done but with no intention of it being perfect. There is negative space being shown in the spots that the paint did not cover which is the white areas surrounding the paint. There is detachment between the objects because it is a canvas with a neon light put on top of it so they are two separate elements of design.

 

 3. Miriam Cahn

The shape that is being made is of the women’s body and the size of the wounds body takes up most of the canvas she is the main point of the piece. The color of the pieced goes from darks to lights. The lightest color of is the women’s body while the darkest is the background and the women’s face which is a dark blue with highlights. There are textures made with the brushstrokes. The direction of the brushstrokes creates a halo effect around the focal point which is the body.  The position of the body is vertical and there is a sense of space since there are highlights in the background suggesting there is depth. The overall shape gives it a very hand drawn feel to it, it is irregular and curved just lie the human body. There is a line being created by the body against the background. The form as a plane is a very organic shape which is hand-drawn. The piece was very loosely done shown by the texture created by the paint. The negative space is created by the dark background crested around the floating body. While the positive space would be the women’s body. There is a sense of repetition of texture because the same texture is being used throughout the whole painting which gives it this loosely painted piece.

4. Tom Wesselman

The basic shapes being shown are the foot, the pictures frame in the background, the orange and the cushion. All making basic shapes such as 2 circles, a rectangle and the organic form which is the foot. The color of this piece is very vibrant, the colors all have a vibrant hue of yellows and oranges. The texture of this piece is very smooth and it is the same throughout the whole piece. The representation of this piece I s study pf a still life, in which the artists wanted to do a study of colors. The only shape in the piece is organic while the other elements of the piece are geometric such as the picture frame, the orange and the pillow. The negative space would be the white surrounding the objects there is no background present in this piece, the white makes it seem almost like a border. Most of the objects re touching an overlapping one another. There is a repetition of texture because the whole piece has a very smooth texture throughout.

 

The basic shapes that are being shown are the male’s arm, the rest of his body, the symbols creating the words, the fruits and the yogurt cup. The color of this advertisement mostly has neutral colors including the grey background, the skin color. The only vibrant colors are the fruits, yogurt cups and the bright white behind the males figure. The only texture being shown is mostly on the figure which is the muscles and the hair on his face and head. The organic shapes are the fruits and the figure. The negative space surrounds the figure, the letters, and the cups.
